Heading 5

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

OVERVIEW

Explore the research methods that have been instrumental in my product development process across a range of projects. This page illustrates the various techniques that I have utilized at different stages of development. These methods demonstrate my ability to drive product development with effective research strategies.

Introduction

Design methods are not one-size-fits-all, and the approach taken for each project varies. In my previous experience, I have employed a range of user research techniques tailored to the specific needs of each project. I draw inspiration from diverse sources, including the book Universal Methods of Design↗ by Bella Martin and Bruce Hanington↗, which I first encountered in a course taught by Audrey Desjardins↗.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES

Research Methods

Design Phase 1: Planning, Scoping, and definition

Territory Map

Project Nuclear Disarmament in 2045
Objective We aim to visualize our understanding of the current state of nuclear disarmament by mapping out stakeholders, impacts, and existing efforts.

Design Phase 2: Exploration, Synthesis, and Design Implication

AEIOU

Project Augment UW
Objective We aim to use the AEIOU framework to document field observations

Culture Probe

Project Cosbuild
Objective We aim to use a culture probe to strengthen our connection with our participants and gather inspirational pieces from the returned kit

Design Phase 3: Concept Generation, and Early Prototype Iteration

Card Sorting

Project Arboretum
Objective The purpose of the card sorting exercise is to gain insight into how users categorize information, in order to make informed decisions on the app's tab bar and functional organization.

Wizard of Oz

Project Augment UW
Objective As an early phase of the project, we aim to use the "Wizard of Oz" technique to determine if Augmented Reality (AR) was the suitable technology/medium for our concept.

Design Phase 4: Evaluation, Refinement, and Production

Prototype, Think-aloud Protocol, Usability Testing

Project Sturdy IoT
Objective Using the PCA method, our goal is to enhance the usability of our platform by having participants perform curated user scenarios.

PCA Method for Medical Devices

Design Phase 5: Launch and monitor

Love Letter

Project awear
Objective Our sustainable clothing zine intends to showcase the longevity of quality clothing through "love letters" from participants who have treasured their garments for years.

User Groups

I have gathered valuable insights through my participation in various user research groups. The following list highlights the different user groups with which I have engaged in research activities, including demographic and industry-specific segments.

  • Students (Student project)
  • Elderly (Student & Rollator project)
  • Disability (Rollator project)
  • CPAP Patient (Respiratory-care Product)
  • Nurses of Clinic (Sturdy IoT, Airmattress)
  • Doctors of Clinic (Sturdy IoT)
  • Service provider (Sturdy IoT)
  • Manufacturer (Sturdy IoT)
  • Overseas Regional Project Managers (Wellell Website)

Role & Responsibility

I have a diverse range of experience in executing various roles and responsibilities when conducting user research. The following list showcases the different aspects of user research that I have experience with

  • Translate design to research documents
  • Preparations
  • Conduct interview
  • Note taker
  • Documentation (camera and audio set up)
  • Secondary interviewer
  • Main interviewer
  • Evaluations
  • Pull insights

CHALLENGES

Research Challenges in the Medical Industry

Conducting research in the healthcare services field presents a unique set of limitations and challenges. Through my experience, I have encountered a variety of obstacles in this field and have compiled a list of these challenges.

  • Access to participants
Recruitment of participants in medical settings, especially patients, can be difficult due to strict protocols for protecting patient privacy and consent.
  • Time constraints
Time constraints and hectic environments in medical settings can make it difficult to schedule research sessions and obtain time with participants.
  • Complexity of the domain
Designing research and testing sessions in the medical field can be challenging due to the complexity of the domain where technical terms and concepts may be unfamiliar to researchers
  • Legal and ethical considerations
Legal and ethical considerations, such as consent, confidentiality, and data protection, must be carefully considered when conducting research and testing in medical settings
  • The Pandemic
The pandemic presents a higher risk for conducting interviews in hospitals.
